I’ll just “play it by ear” and tell you a little about myself.
I am an avid reader, an internet researcher and a learner. I have found that things are usually not what we see or hear – and certainly not what we have been taught. Politics-wise, I listen and watch – and then I listen and watch for what is NOT being said or done – and then I do a Google search and research the subject. I am not afraid to step outside the box. This has led to some interesting conversations. I am a history buff – one who likes to sift the history we are fed and shake out the true facts from the balony.
I am a free thinker. So many people are just followers of whatever they are told – because its easier than using the reasoning brain they were given. That’s why the world is in the mess it is in. It’s the reason I think America needs a 3-party system. We need a third party to put a check on the other 2 parties because the ‘followers’ won’t force their parties to be accountable. I lean toward independent. However, I thought Ron Paul might have had a chance to make a difference as a republican. But, as usual, the ‘bought and paid for’ media wouldn’t give Ron Paul the time of day
I am a happy person, smile a lot and usually see the positive side of the matter. I love jokes so if you have some good ones- please do add them here.
My favorite authors are Dan Brown and Clive Cussler. I love their fast-paced race across the world mysteries. I also like to read weird stuff like Graham Hancock or Zecharia Sitchin. And again, I will research the subjects on the internet.
I scrapbook, and have done an extensive family geneology that went all the way back to 1268 in England which I have put on a family website. I spend a lot of time on my eBay store where I sell original vintage ads of classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, and tractors.
I am a Michiganian; however I have lived in the Florida Keys, Winston-Salem and Hendersonville , NC, and in Las Vegas . My favorite Michigan locations in which to live are Traverse City and Ann Arbor . Both of those cities are quite similar.
I have been in real estate sales, was a Dept of Social Services ADC Payments worker, a foot reflexologist/massage therapist/nutritional consultant, and was a live-in health care giver. I have an Associates Degree in Accounting and Business Management – but work opportunities took me in a different direction.
Years ago I used to dabble in art – mostly pencil drawings. I rarely draw anymore myself but my daughter is a muralist and an artist. And her son has carried on the tradition of art in his music.
I like to write nostalgia stories of when I was young and when my kids were growing up in the 50s and 60s. I like crafts. Ocasionally when I get in the mood I like to scrapbook. I am a cat lover – big cats as well as little household lapcats. My favorites are white tigers, snowleopards and cougars. I like some dogs, big ones mostly, but not little sassy dogs like toys, poodles, terriers, or pomeraniums.
Every year, over Labor Day weekend we have family weekend camping at one of the kids’ wooded acreages up north. – except this year it will be a couple of weekends earlier because we have my granddaughter’s wedding to go to that weekend – and with the cost of gas and distances traveled we decided to make it the one weekend and include the wedding.
We mostly have campers but the kids use tents. The big event each evening is sitting around the campfire, sometimes playing games, telling stories – and passing around a bottle of blackberry brandy.
This year the camp site will be near Traverse City , Kingsley to be exact, in the wooded area behind my son’s workshop barn where he rebuilds his tractors. This happens to be the weekend of the Buckley Steam Engine Show so we will probably slip over there one day. And I hear plans are being made about going tubing down the river.
We are a tractor-restoring and tractor-pulling family. My youngest daughter even got into tractor restoring after having bought a rusty old 1949 Ford 8N tractor at an auction sale. She came home from the sale – jumped on the internet – and by late afternoon knew everything there was to know about Ford 8Ns. By that time the men had the tractor stripped to its skeleton – and the rest is history. In fact, if I remember to, I will include a picture of her restored brand new tractor. My son builds hot pulling tractors from ordinary farm tractors. At last count he had 7 tractors sitting in his workshop – or at various engine-building shops. He says its a disease.
